FIBRE LASER ENGRAVING
MOPA 2.5 D HI- RESOLUTION METAL ENGRAVING
Diamond EngraversDiamond Engravers have 3 advanced MOPA Fibre lasers currently, designed specifically for undergoing complex engraving both for flat and rotary applications. There are subtle but important differences between standard fibre lasers and MOPA lasers, which makes them superior for their ability to not only produce shorter pulse duration but to reduce potential damage to products but considerably more versatile in being able to adjust settings that are more appropriate and accurate for a given application. Overall, our MOPA fibre laser engraving systems are designed to cope with many more applications including plastics and more control of the finished result.
MOPA (Master Oscillator Power Amplifier) fiber laser engraving is an advanced marking technology known for its exceptional control and versatility. Unlike standard fiber lasers, MOPA systems allow for independent adjustment of pulse duration, frequency, and power, making superior for high-end industrial and creative applications.
KEY CAPABILITIES AND CHARACTERISTICS:
• True Color Marking: By precisely controlling heat through adjustable pulse widths, MOPA lasers can create vibrant, reproducible colors on stainless steel and titanium.
• High-Contrast Black Marking: They excel at producing deep, non-textured black marks on anodized aluminum, a common requirement for electronics branding.
• Material Sensitivity: The ability to use short pulses reduces thermal stress, allowing for clean engraving on heat-sensitive materials like plastics (e.g., ABS, PBT) without melting or foaming.
• Versatility: MOPA lasers can simulate the properties of both conventional fiber lasers (for deep engraving) and short-pulse solid-state lasers.
COMPARING MOPA vs STANDARD FIBRE LASERS
• Pulse Control: Standard fiber lasers (Q-switched) typically have fixed pulse durations (e.g., 100-150ns), whereas MOPA lasers range from 2ns to 500ns. The ability to change how long each pulse lasts (duration) gives far better control over heat impact, crucial for marking sensitive materials like thin plastics or creating color on metals.
• Frequency Range: MOPA systems offer a significantly wider frequency range (up to 4000 kHz) compared to the roughly 20-100 kHz of standard units. Higher frequencies deliver gentler, more frequent impacts, while lower frequencies provide stronger, less frequent impacts. The ability to adjust Frequency allows for processing materials that standard lasers struggle with, such as producing high-contrast black marks on anodized aluminum or vivid colors on stainless steel
• Common Applications Electronics: Marking phone cases, laptops, and circuit boards with high-contrast identifiers.
Awards./Trophies Engraving plates, shields, glassware, gifts, corporate logos.
• Electronics: Marking phone cases, laptops, and circuit boards with high-contrast identifiers.
• Medical Technology: Creating corrosion-resistant, biocompatible marks on surgical instruments that survive sterilization.
• Jewelry: Intricate, high-precision engravings and color accents on gold, silver, and platinum. Inside rings, complex designs and variation in laser pulse rate for delicate jewellery.
• Automotive: Day/night design (paint removal from backlit buttons) and permanent part traceability.
